Taxation Without Representation

In what appears to be the first time in our nation’s history, the lower chamber of congress readies to levy tax without actually having voted on the measure. In what is now being called the "Slaughter Amendment", (how apropos) the house will vote on a measure that will have "deemed" the Senate Health Care amendment approved by the house and readied for presidential approval.

Once approved, our tax code will be changed to include additional taxes levied. This action defies the constitutional responsibility our legislators swore to uphold. The despotic tyranny of government is built on such actions. The will of the people usurped for the supposed greater good. Will we let this stand? What is our obligation? Whether or not you agree with me or have great affinity for the left causes, you must agree that some guiding principles supersede the governing class. What are those rights? While reading this, if they are not immediately coming to mind, then you must take time to re-read our founding documents. Free men must lay hold of such things, or they will be stolen by tyranny or worse, apathy of the governed.

  1. UPDATE: It appears the apathy of the governed has turned into the roar of the free man! The Slaughter Rule was terminated.
